Product Description

It's easy to become a cookbook collector. The glossy photos of scrumptious meals draw you in regardless of whether the recipes are easy or the ingredients are easy to find! Our intentions are good, but somehow we just can't get around to pulling together an incredible meal every night. Well, cookbook author Rachel Masters takes a much more practical approach, almost guaranteeing that this is one cookbook that will spend more time on the countertop than on the shelf.

As a mom with young children, she was frustrated with the time it was taking to develop a meal plan and grocery list for the week. To make this easier, she created a plan that rotated through all of the main dishes her family enjoyed, along with shopping lists to accompany them. In the end she had a twelve-week plan, each week complete with five main dishes, a dessert, a snack, and a shopping list.

After using her plan with much success over the years, she now presents it to the rest of us in handy cookbook form. The cookbook presents thirteen weeks, each with a meal plan for the week, a grocery list (divided into types of food like produce, dairy, etc.), and the recipes. Each week features five meals, a snack, and a dessert. Weeks are broken down by meal, with each meal including recipes for the main course as well as side dishes. As a bonus, Rachel has included a suggested timetable for each meal, outlining when each task preparation task should be done for a six o'clock target dinner time. At this point, you may be mostly concerned about the meals themselves.

Will your family like them? Glancing over the meal plans, I'd say they have broad appeal (remember, the author has several young children herself!). A sampling of the meals includes: chicken fajitas, beef stew, lasagna, shepherd's pie, pork chops, sloppy joes, french dip sandwiches, ribs, chicken over rice, sub sandwiches, split pea soup, ham and cheese sandwiches, pork tenderloin, and many more scrumptious-sounding side dishes I don't have room to mention. You won't find anything too specialized in here, just family-pleasing favorites. Of course, if everyone in your family dislikes a certain recipe, just replace it with one of your own and edit the shopping list to include those ingredients.

Additionally, seven appendices include suggestions for breakfasts and lunches, using produce from your garden, recipes for special events and holidays, essentials for the kitchen, tips and ideas, making a few typically store-bought items from scratch, and some advice on family meal time (including suggestions to get children to try new things!). All in all, this is a great, practical resource for any busy mom struggling to shop and pull together meals each week!  Jess

Such a blessing!
This book has been an amazing blessing to my family. In some ways, it became my 'Titus 2 woman' as it helped me meal plan and cook dinners for my family. These are simple meals that you can adapt to your dietary needs with the idea of a busy homeschooling mom in mind. Her nacho/taco dip is our favorite! Whether you are looking for meal ideas or need a little guidance in the kitchen, you will enjoy this book. -Teresa H.

I love this cookbook and it shows as it's falling apart. I've had it since 2011 or 12; when my mom saw it she wanted one. We have a large family and meal planning was a pain. This gave me 3 months of 5 meals per week, plus a snack and dessert each week. There are a few recipes that I substitute our favorites and sometimes I do take a break for a few weeks from this. With the shopping lists and number of servings for each recipe, this makes it so easy to only buy what we need. Our grocery bill has shrunk considerably. There are also ideas for breakfast, lunch, seasonal ideas, special meals. - Laurie

I LOVE this book! It is so easy to navigate & to use It has been a huge time saver for me It's also saved our family money because I start cooking long before 6 whereas before I'd notice it was nearing 6pm and had no idea what to cook for dinner so we'd go out to eat instead I've recommended it to tons of moms I know and I'm going to get my sister-in-law a copy since she struggles with planning meals out too It's well worth the price I paid for it and it's much faster than some online meal planning options I had used before. - Cheryce M.

We love this cookbook!! What a great value We have tried so many recipes from this book and the only one we didn't really love was still pretty good The recipes use common ingredients it's laid out nicely and there are MANY great tips for substitutions (ie for cheaper/in-season ingredients if you don't have time to cook part of what's called for etc) I really like the way it's organized since you can find things in many different ways if you can't remember where you saw something Plus there are tons of ideas for organizing your shopping trips pantry and meals This was a great investment My teenaged daughter has been using this book too and she really likes the conversational tone of the book (she says it's like I'm telling her how to make something) Well worth the $$ and highly recommended!! - Amy S.

This cookbook has been a lifesaver in my home! Lately I've been feeling a little overwhelmed with all I have to do and planning a menu and grocery list is just another thing that I sometimes don't have time for Well this amazing resource does it all for me! The author has compiled weeks and weeks of delicious family-friendly recipes coupled with the grocery lists needed to buy all the items needed for each week It has majorly reduced my stress level We have liked every recipe we've tried so far and can't wait to taste the rest! It's very flexible When there is a meal scheduled that I already have a favorite recipe for I just switch it out for mine When I have time and energy to plan my menus and shopping lists then I do so But when I can't seem to find the time this cookbook is a very helpful resource to have in my toolbelt! - Melanie R.

As a stay-at-home mother to three children under the age of 4 one of my goals is to prepare and serve healthy tasty dinners to my family each evening However this area has always been a struggle for me I love to cook and even enjoy grocery shopping But coming up with ideas of what to make is so difficult! I found myself rushing around each afternoon trying to pull something together for dinner Then I ordered the "Supper's on the Table Come Home" Cookbook This is a wonderful little book The author has developed 13 weeks worth of recipes and has compiled a weekly grocery list with all the ingredients needed for the recipes The meals are simple and filled with "down home" cooking She also includes a timetable for making the dinner For example - start making the bread at 2:30 put the meatloaf in the oven at 5:00 eat at 6:00 This is a really nice feature as it ensures all the food will be ready to eat at the same time Using this book has greatly simplified my approach to dinner and saved me much time I no longer have to scramble in the kitchen to figure out what we can eat or spend time looking through a dozen recipes and writing out my grocery list I highly recommend this book for any family who wants to spend time together around the dinner table. - Kelly K.
