Welcome to Singletree Emporium
Vintage and Repurposed Treasures

Singletree Emporium is a place to be inspired about all that can be cherished and reused in home decor.  Singletree Emporium carries a fun, creative mix of old and repurposed items.  We sell a wide variety of unique treasures that are ready for a new home. A singletree is a type of hitch for draft horses, which is one of the first items that I ever bought at an auction, when I was a teenager.

Meet Rachel Masters

Owner of Singletree Emporium

Antiquing has brought me joy since I was 13 years old. It is my dream to create a space that inspires collecting, and creativity.
I remember the day I fell in LOVE with antiquing.

When my grandparents passed away, the family gathered their belongings and held an auction.  That’s the day I fell in love with antiquing.  I was 13.  As I walked around the familiar yard, I saw items that I recognized – their couch, their dishes, their cuckoo clock.  But I also saw things that I didn’t know existed.  Fascinating things like a singletree for hitching up a draft horse; a black kerosene lantern for doing chores in the barn in the era before electricity; a set of folding chairs made of wood that would probably pinch your fingers if you weren’t careful.  All of a sudden, I needed to own them.  Not because a 13-year old has any real use for those items, but because they connected me personally to a time-period in history that I had only read about in Little House on the Prairie books.

These items connected to me personally.

I must have talked about some of the “olden days” with my Grandpa Russell before he died, but I hadn’t thought that he might still own things from the days when they farmed with horses.  Now, seeing them on the front lawn, ready to be sold to the highest bidder awakened a little spark in me.  I wanted to buy them because I wanted to keep them for myself.  I got permission from my dad to bid, and as the auction progressed, I won all three of the items mentioned above.

I just know that from that time on, I was hooked on auctions and antiques.

I have always wished for time or money to indulge this hobby. The antique pieces that remain the most special to me are the ones that I personally have re-finished or the pieces that belonged to someone I knew from my childhood.  I will never claim to be an expert antiques dealer.  But, I have developed a bit of a knack for knowing what other antique-minded people are looking for and have a collection started from our farm.

Other valuable items come our way that others can use or repurpose. My husband, Darren, has been in the construction business in this community for over a decade. He will occasionally have a customer who no longer wants their functional, out-of-date, furniture or sink or cabinet or windows, etc... and asks that they be relocated. He brings them home to our farm where we have stored these items in outbuildings until we are out of space!

We are at an exciting time in life with our six children - the oldest ones now flying the nest to begin their adventures. Now, we can start an adventure of our own!  Our dream is to develop this creative space, fill it with cherished vintage and antique items and make them all available to you to enjoy and lovingly repurpose for your home!
